Amanda Cortes of Sandown Enrolls at Eckerd College

2012 Sep 11

Amanda Cortes of Sandown, NH, has enrolled at Eckerd College. Cortes is among 600 new students at Eckerd for the Fall 2012 Term.

At the beginning of Autumn Term in August, Eckerd's unique version of the traditional school orientation for first-year students, Eckerd College President Dr. Donald R. Eastman III remarked to freshmen at the annual Ceremony of Lights event: "You chose to come to Eckerd College from 14 countries, 42 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico because you figured out, one way or another, by Web, word of mouth, campus visit, or intuition, that the Eckerd experience is one of the most compelling educational adventures in the world today."

An Eckerd College experience is not about teaching students a rigid set of facts. As one of 40 schools featured in Colleges That Change Lives and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, it's clear that Eckerd's first priority is to teach students how to learn.

Eckerd, a private College of liberal arts and sciences, invites students to ThinkOutside. At our 188-acre waterfront campus and at points around the globe, we venture together in the Eckerd experience to think outside the conventional questions, methods and solutions, seeking to build a better world.

The best education is one that prepares you for the how, as well as the what, an education that teaches you to ThinkOutside.
